What is RhythmHearts Theater?
RhythmHearts Theater is a theater program designed for individuals with special needs.

With the help of familiar melodies and the natural structure that music provides, participants are given the opportunities for peer socialization, and self expression.
RhythmHearts Theater adapts stories from a wide variety of mediums (Short stories, Nursery Rhymes, Movies, Disney, Broadway, Cartoons, etc.) into musicals and plays, which provide the foundation for the development of important life skills.

Our RhythmHearts staff also welcomes and encourages ideas or changes to the stories by group members (character names, setting, songs/lyrics, and/or providing a new ending). This adaptability to change is designed to put our group members’ contributions at the center of our program, providing a shared musical experience that encourages the development of creative skills.
How do we differ from traditional theater programs?

Our stories use fewer words, and emphasize other forms of communication, such as gesture. We welcome and adapt our stories for participants who are non-verbal.
